Power!

This will be just a very short post to show off the exciting new bit of kit that I (Tom) got in the post today. It's a dynamo coupled to a system that will allow me to charge my mobile phone on the move! This will mean that we can have the route up on the phone's screen along with GPS tracking so we can quickly and easily make sure that we are always on the right track on the big ride. Another point to note is the incredible noise it makes! Riding at speeds above about 10 mph makes it sound like some kind of jet engine - love it.

It's ugly, but useful enough to make it possible to look the other way

Might need a more substantial phone holder!
Thanks for reading, please have a little look at our Just Giving page and if you're feeling generous you can really easily sponsor us, all the money going to Habitat for Humanity.

Winter Training... ish

We've had our first donations! Thank you very much for those, everyone keep them coming here.

So after a whole Christmas of hoping for snow, it finally came today and being slightly funny in the head, we decided that this meant it was time to get on the bikes! We started off with a quick photo on the road bikes and then got the mountain bikes out and headed out into the elements, where we spent a good hour or more seeing how far we could skid around bends, having distance-sliding competitions down hills (on the very edge of control) and playing crazy games of follow the leader. Does that count as training? Not sure...

Please remember to visit our Just Giving page and donate to Habitat for Humanity (and remember to Gift Aid your donation - doesn't cost you a penny but the charity gets a bit more)

Training Has Begun

Training for JOGLE 2012 began yesterday (2nd February) with a freezing cold ride along the Bristol-Bath Railway Path. Despite wearing so many layers as to make us feel like Michelin men, the toes were the first to lose feeling, only about 4 or 5 miles in. Due to a slight misjudgement of the time, we ended up riding home from Bristol in the fading light at -6 degrees Celsius! Fingers crossed for some warmer weather soon...

Remember to donate to Habitat for Humanity via our Just Giving page!

First Post: Route Planned

Welcome to our blog! Here you'll find all the details and updates as we prepare ourselves for cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End in June 2012. Our hope is to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, a great charity who work tirelessly to provide homes for those people around the world who are not fortunate enough to have anywhere decent to live. If you're feeling kind enough to donate, here's the link you need! www.justgiving.com/tomntimcycling

So far, we have planned our route and found places to stay. If you're interested, the links for the routes for each day are here:

We have not finalised the dates yet, but as soon as we do we will post them on here - feel free to come out and cheer us on if we're passing through your town!
